How to compare broadband internet providers

With so many internet providers, plans and packages around these days how do you know which one to go for? You really have to know how to compare them and this article will help you know what features in the broadband plans on offer you should be looking at. The plan features that you should be looking at include the speed, the download limit, any over usage charges, pricing and customer service support.

Speed

The speed of your internet is very important usually the higher you go the more you pay, for basic internet usage such as checking email and browsing web pages, any broadband plan should be sufficient. If you plan to listen to music and watch movies online then you will probably have to go for a fast internet plan.

Download Limits

The download limit is the amount of bandwidth that you use per month, once you hit that limit most ISPs will cap your speed so that you are still able to use the internet but at slow speed until your next billing month begins. Be careful though as some broadband providers will charge you for over usage so make sure you know if they do or not before you sign up. If you do go for a high speed internet plan make sure the download limit is also high as you could use all your monthly quota very quickly!

Pricing

And of course there is the pricing, as each ISP (internet service provider) has their own packages it maybe hard to say who is cheaper, it all depends on what you get really. Be sure to compare the sign up costs, modem costs, setup costs, and be sure to read all the information given to you during the signup process to ensure you understand what you will be charged for, some items are actually optional when you signup for example if you are changing ISP and already have a modem then you don’t need to buy another one from your new internet provider as the same modem should work. Most people will go for the cheapest plan however you may not get the level of support you were expecting, which is what we will discuss next.

Customer Service

For customer service how do you know it’s like until you try it out, you can’t basically but what you can do is ask around, ask people at your work place who they are with and what experiences they have had with their internet provider’s service, did they respond quickly? Were they helpful? How quickly did they fix your issue? Also if the ISP has 24 hour customer support then that’s definitely a plus.

With most internet plans usually the more you pay the more monthly downloads and speed you will get, so it really depends on what you think you will use the internet for as you don’t want to pay for a high priced plan and you are not using it to it’s full capacity, this website has internet plans for every type of user so check it out.
